Melonee's attempt to help

Last night Ryan was changing Dottie's diaper.  Dottie kept crying so Melonee sees Dottie's pacifier laying next to her...(we have taken Melonee's pacifier away from her) to our amazement Melonee tried to put the pacifier in Dottie's mouth with good success.  Well, when Dottie would not take it she would shake her play mat Dottie was laying on that has a star above Dottie that lights up and makes sounds.  Melonee would rotate the pacifier and shake the play mat to try to soothe Dottie till Ryan could get the diaper changed.  This was too cute.  Melonee tries to help us even though she is just 14 months old.  I did not mention in my previous blog that Dottie just turned two months this past Sunday!!!

Ryan went outside last night to take the trash out.  Our little Melonee tried to follow him.  Yep, she can now open the doors.

Dottie is still just smiling and cooing.  She has spurts of keeping me up all night still, but for the most part is a good sleeper.

This past week has been full of activities.  A normal week in the Florida house hold is cram packed with things to do.  Mondays we go shopping with Lovey and Great Aunt Kay Kay, Tuesdays we go see Papa and Lovey, Wednesdays we rest, Thursdays we try to go see Nana and Pops, Fridays we go to story time with Nana's help, and the weekends we rotate with the grandparents!!

On Friday, we found out that Papa needs to have surgery on his heart. So we went to Decherd for the weekend to spend time with him.  On the way to Decherd, I (Mom) got to ride in between my girls!!!  Dottie has a tendency to cry when she can't see me.  Oh, and Melonee, we have taken the pacifier away from you.  It has been trying, but we believe you are doing great.

Melonee has started doing more hand motions and jibber jabbering more.  She is shrugging her shoulders, nodding her head with the beat to music, rolling her hands and throwing them up like the song patty cake and she loves the song when your happy and you know it.

Dottie is still doing great.  She has had a couple of bad nights and woke up at 3am, but is doing better now.  She is smiling and responding to us now.  Her cooing is just so sweet.

Yesterday was Valentine's day.  Well, last night when Ryan got home and got settled we gave Melonee and Dottie their gift.  You would have thought that Melonee had won the lottery.  She got her basket and magnetic letters and carried them back and forth from the refrigerator.  Then we put her singing broom together and she danced with it for a while.  Dottie also enjoyed her basket as much as she could :).  It is always so good to see your children happy.  Last night was the first night since we took the pacifier away from Melonee that she did not cry.  She just climbed up in my arms and fell asleep without a problem.  What a relief.  Dottie also passed out pretty easily last night.

Weekend at Papa's and Lovey's

We had a wonderful time at Papa's and Lovey's house this weekend.  The girls love it at the grandparents house.  Melonee gets so excited when we pull up.  She has so much fun playing with her kitchen set.

Saturday Ryan and I had to run to town...Papa volunteered to keep both the girls.  (Lovey was working in the beauty shop)  When we got back home, Papa was holding Dottie and Melonee was sitting at his feet to tired to move.  We got both girls down for a nap.  After nap time, Ryan took Melonee outside to help Uncle Ryan mark off the house they are building.

Saturday night we played the WII and tried to show Melonee how to bowl.  She loves playing with remote controls, but she had a hard time pushing buttons and moving the control at the same time.  However, she attempted and did rather well.

Sunday Lovey and Papa volunteered to keep Dottie and let Ryan and I take Melonee to church.  Well, we forgot her pacifier!!!!  She did well during Sunday school, but got a little out of control during the service.  I had to take her to the nursery...she played for a while.  Then it happened...she fell head first into the toy box.  She started screaming...I thought it was sort of funny of coarse all it really did was hurt her feelings.  Kayla heard her screaming and came running with milk and cheerios.  We then decided it was time to go.

When we got home both girls were down for the count!!!  Later that afternoon Kayla was ready to have a photo shoot with the girls.  So we dressed the girls up in their crochet outfits.  The outfit Dottie was wearing Great Aunt Sylvia made her.  Dottie did wonderful!!!  We even got a couple of smiles out of her.  Melonee on the other hand was a HAND FULL!!!  It has been harder to get her to hold still...it is a good thing Aunt Kayla has a quick camera.
